Director, Office of Student Involvement
This position supports IWU students by providing leadership and vision for a broad range of co-curricular student engagement opportunities, including registered student organizations, fraternity and sorority participation, campus activities, and leadership development programming. The Director also provides daily oversight and facility management of the Hansen Student Center. This is a full time, on-campus position. Responsibilities:
- Internal University-wide programming; support the transition of first year students into the IWU community by coordinating orientation programming, including alcohol education, sexual assault awareness and contemporary issues that impact college campuses; coordinate the delivery of community building programming during homecoming and family weekend; supervises and backs up the administrative assistant who manages 25Live reservations across campus
- Fraternity & Sorority Community Oversight; provide oversight to the three Interfraternity Council (IFC) chapters and four College Panhellenic chapters; develop an individualed approach to engage in conversation with students and chapters about their academic, career, and life goals; ensure chapters adhere to the minimum expectations and advance their organization through the Chapter Thrive Program; build and deliver intentional education and awareness around health and safety guidelines and proactices (alcohol awareness, hazing prevention, bystander intervention, sexual violence prevention, etc.); co-advises chapters and utilizes counseling and reflective advising techniques to provide academic support and personalized guidance for leaders within these communities
- Involvement oversight; supports IWU’s mission of realizing individual potential and developing global citizens by providing a myriad of co-curricular opportunities; Co-advise the Student Senate with VP for Student Affairs; support the Assistant Director in developing leadership programs; manage all aspects of the office budget and student activity fee related budgets
- Supervision of Office of Student Involvement; responsible for overall recruitment, selection, training and supervision of one exempt and one support staff; utilize synergistic and mentorship techniques to guide the professional development and career growth of staff in office; responsible for designing and implementing a supervision approach for 20 student works
- Facility management; provide daily facility management and maintenance of Hansen Student Center, including supervising the Hansen Crew Student Employment Team; oversee the facilities of the three fraternity and one sorority chapter houses
Requirements:
- Master’s degree required in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or similar fields of study; 5 years of related experience may substitute for required master’s degree
- Three years of relevant experience
- Participates in on-call/Dean on Duty rotation
