Admissions Counselor

This position is responsible for a travel territory, recruiting qualified applicants for admission, and functions as both an outside recruiter and on-campus recruitment liaison. Primary responsibilities include attending college fairs, planning high school travel, developing relationships with high school guidance counselors, parents and prospective students in order to meet or exceed stated annual enrollment and outreach goals associated with the territory. The admissions counselor informs prospective high school students about Illinois Wesleyan programs, culture, mission, and life on campus; ensures that recruitment goals are met regarding applications, acceptances, and enrolled students; plans and executes special projects in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the Enrollment & Marketing department; reviews admissions applications, and evaluates credentials; encourages a healthy and productive working relationship between the Enrollment & Marketing department and other IWU offices. Hiring for two positions; preference for fluent Spanish.  This is a full time, on-campus position. Responsibilities:

  • Manages recruitment territory in order to meet or exceed stated application and enrollment goals; attends college fairs, high school visits and other opportunities to share information with prospective students and families; initiates communication via texting, calling, emailing and other outreach; develops and maintains relationships with guidance counselors
  • Understands the mission, vision, programs, majors and extracurricular offerings of IWU; meets with prospective students and families; makes recommendations to AVP for Enrollment Management regarding admittance
  • Completes and evaluates reports related to recruitment territory, projections, conversions, personal schedule and travel; uses Slate CRM to manage recruitment territory; uses Capture forecasting tool to prioritize outreach to students
  • Collaborate with key IWU faculty and staff to meet enrollment expectations; works with coaches to assist prospective athletes with the enrollment process; serves as liaison between faculty, academic programs and prospective students to facilitate conversations; represents IWU Enrollment Management at various campus activities; works as liaison between prospective students and financial aid

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Preference for fluency in Spanish
  • Knowledge of college search process and financial aid best practices
  • Responsible for a travel territory, with overnight, weeknight, and weekend travel/responsibilities with extensive travel during the recruitment season
  • Reliable personal transportation necessary
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time
  • Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.

Annualized salary of $41,000
