Labor Crew
The Labor Crew supports university operations by facilitating event setup and teardown, delivering and transporting equipment, assisting with bulk waste removal, and performing seasonal snow removal. This position requires physical labor, coordination with multiple departments, and adherence to safety protocols. Team members must demonstrate efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew. This is a full-time, on-campus position. DUTIES:
- Event Setup & Teardown; coordinate with departments (Athletics, Student Affairs, Alumni, Academic, etc.) to set up and dismantle event spaces; move and arrange tables, chairs, risers, bleachers, stages, and other event-related equipment; interpret work orders and apply appropriate setup methods with minimal supervision.
- Parcel & Equipment Delivery; transport and deliver packages, parcels, furniture, and fragile equipment across campus; handle specialized items such as musical instruments, laboratory equipment, and furnishings, requiring careful handling techniques and occasional forklift use; ensure secure and timely deliveries to faculty, staff, and students.
- Snow Removal & Winter Operations; respond to winter weather conditions by assisting with snow removal and maintaining safe campus access; work alongside the Grounds Crew to ensure snow-clearing operations are efficient and timely; be available for on-call duties as required (24/7 availability during winter storms)
- Bulk Waste & Recycling Management; collect and transport bulk waste and recyclables from campus facilities to appropriate waste centers; follow proper disposal procedures to align with university sustainability efforts
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Three years’ related experience; event setup, warehouse work, moving services, or facility maintenance is a plus
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions including extreme cold and heat.
- Must be able to follow work orders, schedules, and instructions effectively. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments.
- Physical demands: Ability to lift and transport heavy objects (up to 50 lbs regularly). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying heavy loads throughout the shift.
- Noise exposure varies from moderate to loud environments, depending on job assignments.
- Must be comfortable working near moving mechanical parts, high-traffic areas, and equipment requiring safety precautions.
- Valid Driver’s license

Level R: Starting hourly rate $19/hr (37.5/hrs week)
Shift: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm (with required overtime on evenings and weekends)
