Plumber

This licensed plumbing professional serves university plumbing installation, maintenance and repair needs. Responsibilities:

  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of potable and other water systems; safety and upkeep of the domestic water system and related fixtures; the supply water infrastructure; hot water supply equipment and related components
  • Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of drainage systems; safety and upkeep of the sewage drainage systems and related equipment; drainage infrastructure; stormwater systems and kitchen drainage systems
  • Satisfy all plumbing code and compliance with the State and local AHJ; conduct and report backflow and cross-connection surveys; liaise with City of Bloomington Plumbing Inspector as needed
  • Work with the Supervisor of Building Trades in maintaining inventory and assist other trades as needed 

 

Requirements:

  • State of Illinois Plumbing License required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience; ability to independently perform installations, maintenance and repairs 
  • Knowledge of potable water systems, sump pumps, mixing valves, backflow and understanding of state plumbing code and related violations
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call roster
  • Participate in the snow removal on-call roster
  • Participate in department safety training
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical demands: Occasionally requires ability to lift up to 100 lbs.; Frequently requires twisting, turning, repetitive hand/wrist motion and forearm rotation, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, balancing and reaching above shoulder and down to floor and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.; Constantly requires standing, walking, traveling from building to building multiple times a day and lifting/carrying up to 25lbs.
