Assistant Coach Men's & Women's Swimming/Assistant Director of Fort Natatorium

Illinois Wesleyan University, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, invites applications for the full-time, 11-month position of Assistant Coach Men’s & Women’s Swimming/Assistant Director of Fort Natatorium.  Assistant Head Coach/Fort Natatorium Director in responsibility for pool maintenance, safety, supervising lifeguards, scheduling, producing contracts for outside groups. Responsible for recruiting and coaching both men's and women's teams. Additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director. The successful candidate will have skills in using technology to enhance program operations and recruiting, as well as, a commitment to understanding and adhering to NCAA/CCIW Rules. This is a full time, on-campus position. Generous benefits include health, retirement, considerable time off and access to multiple tuition programs for self and dependents.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Player/individual team development; running and organizing team meetings; coaching specific events; work with head coach on daily practice/training schedule; assist with supervising, mentoring and managing staff and student athletes for program
  • Recruiting for University & program; identify potential student athletes and make regular contact; coordinate recruiting and campus visits; execute marketing and recruiting plan to bring in an assigned number of student-athletes per year; retention of student athletes in program
  • Assistant Fort Natatorium Director; assist with scheduling of events, contracts, generating revenue for the university; assist with lifeguard training/scheduling; assist with overall management of fort natatorium
  • Alumni relations and fundraisers with former student athletes, families, and friends of the program; regular communication and assist in fundraising efforts; coordinate swim and diving alumni reunion events to maintain connections 

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience at the collegiate level or high school head coaching preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Overnight and weekend hours, as needed
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Lifeguard certification; preference for swim coach certifications and aquatics director certification

Salary $38-45k, based on experience
