25-26 Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science

 The Department of Computer Science at Illinois Wesleyan University invites applications for Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science. This position is a full time, nine month, on-campus, benefits-eligible position. Benefits include health care plan, considerable time off, and access to tuition programs for employees and dependents.

Illinois Wesleyan is a highly-selective, undergraduate, liberal arts university of approximately 1500 students. The Computer Science department at IWU has four full-time faculty and roughly 100 students majoring in either computer science or data science. Colleagues in the department are happy to provide mentoring and past course materials, and the university actively supports faculty development.  Shared governance is a core value both for the institution and for the department, and the successful applicant can expect to share in guiding the department’s curriculum, policies, and initiatives.

Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching a 4-4 course load with some repeated courses,
  • Managing undergraduate tutors assigned to the courses being taught,
  • Attending department meetings.

Qualifications: 

  • MS/MA or higher, with some degree in Computer Science or closely related field,
  • Experience teaching Computer Science courses,
  • Proficiency in programming in Python,
  • Willingness to contribute to the liberal arts mission of the university.

Compensation and Benefits:
