The Nutrition major at IWU provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the science of nutrition and its application to human health, wellness, and disease prevention. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum, students will explore the role of nutrients in the body, the composition, processing and transportation of food, the relationship between diet and chronic conditions and the importance of education in community based nutrition.

 

What can I do with a Nutrition Major?

The Nutrition major is an interdisciplinary program that includes curriculum from Biology, Chemistry, and Health Sciences departments. Upon graduation Nutrition students will be prepared to take certification exams or enter the workforce after graduation in the following disciplines:

  • Clinical Dietetics
  • Community Nutrition
  • Food Service Management
  • Health Coaching
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Research
  • Education

 

Interested in Continuing Your Education?

With the guidance from our Program Director and the Pre-Health Advisor, some of the prerequisite courses for many graduate programs will be included into the student’s schedule depending on their choice of health care field and selection of schools. These programs include:
