Council for IWU Women logo

The Council for IWU Women (CFW) give time, talent, and resources to support the personal and professional development of the women of Illinois Wesleyan. The Council exists to promote democratic citizenship in a global society while working to support the intellectual and personal growth of women by offering guidance and role models to the extended University community.

Meet the CFW Leadership

 

 

Council for IWU Women Expectations:
  • Open doors of opportunities for women students, including by offering internships, graduate study, employment, and civic engagement.
  • Mentor women students by sharing your own stories with them.
  • Model different life choices and present a rich tapestry of the diversity that is true of the Illinois Wesleyan community.
  • Return to the campus at least once per year to engage with students, staff, faculty, and other alumnae.
  • Share your time, talent, and financial support in a manner consistent with your means, in addition to what you already give to the University at large.

All IWU students who identify as women are eligible to apply for our scholarship. The 2024 scholarship application has closed. Please check back in late 2024 or early 2025 for the 2025 scholarship application.

The next CFW Women's Weekend will be held April 4-6, 2025. This annual event provides an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and Council members to discuss social topics concerning women, network with successful alumnae, and channel inspiration to take on leadership roles in today’s world.

The Illinois Wesleyan community is invited to attend Women's Weekend. All events are free to attend. Registration is expected to open in late January 2025. Check back here or email councilforwomen@iwu.edu for further information.

Here is a preview of our 2025 agenda: 
 
Friday, April 4th
  • Back-to-Campus Activities. Throughout the afternoon you can sit in on a class, visit with students, and enjoy the beautiful Spring weather! 
  • Trivia Night. Open to anyone, come and test your knowledge of women through the ages. 
  • Wilder After Hours. Limited to Council Members, catch up and relax with food, fun, and games. 
Saturday, April 5th
  • Morning Wellness. Everyone is welcome to participate in some easy morning movement to greet the day.
  • Council Gathering and Annual Meeting. After a light breakfast and networking time, we'll get down to business in our Annual Meeting. 
  • Engagement Lunch. Open to everyone, our official programming kickoff luncheon will include an inspiring keynote as we explore our theme for the year: Women of Influence.
  • Engagement Activities. Throughout the afternoon, we invite anyone to stop by for networking, skill-building, and inspiration as we dig deep into what it means to be a woman of influence.
  • Scholarship Dinner. We will close the day with a celebration of our scholarship winners, current and past. Hear our winners tell their stories, and we also hope to be joined by the new IWU President.   
Sunday, April 6th
  • Send Off Breakfast. A chance for Council members to reflect on the weekend, plan for the future, and say goodbye for now. 

Council for Women events, including Women's Weekend, are funded by Council members and friends of the Council. The Council for Women scholarships are fully funded by donations made by Council members and friends of the Council. The Council for Women Scholarships are independent scholarships and are not affiliated with IWU Financial Aid.
