Empty Theatre: A Novel by Jac Jemc '05

Jac Jemc ‘05 is a 2023 Guggenheim Fellow and the author of three novels and two collections of stories. Her story collection False Bingo won the Chicago Review of Books Award for fiction, was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Speculative Fiction, and was longlisted for The Story Prize. She teaches creative writing at UC San Diego and directs the Clarion Writers’ Workshop for speculative fiction. 

We’ll be discussing Jemc’s latest novel Empty Theatre, which received starred reviews in Kirkus Reviews and Booklist, was featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition, and named a finalist for the California Book Award. Audience members are encouraged to read the book prior to this virtual event and come prepared with questions for the author.
