Commencement to Honor Class of 2022 on May 1

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University will celebrate the class of 2022 during Commencement on Sunday, May 1.
Weather permitting, the ceremony will take place at Kemp Commencement Plaza on the Eckley Quad near State Farm Hall. Commencement will begin at 1 p.m. No tickets are required and plenty of seating will be available. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Activity Arena at the Shirk Center. The ceremony will also be live streamed at www.iwu.edu/live.
Dr. William Farrar '71 will address the graduating class of Titans. Named Illinois Wesleyan’s 2021 Distinguished Alumni, he received a bachelor’s in biology from IWU and his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Farrar is the chief executive officer of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, the third largest cancer hospital in the nation. He also serves as a surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of patients with breast cancer. Considered to be one of the nation’s foremost experts in cancer care, Farrar has authored more than 120 cancer research articles in prestigious medical journals, along with several book chapters and scientific abstracts, and has served for more than 20 years on the editorial board for the Journal of Surgical Oncology.
Additionally, the Illinois Wesleyan class of 1970 and 1971 will have opportunities to join a 50th reunion celebration with activities leading up to Commencement, since COVID-19 halted plans in previous years. More information on the 50th Reunion Weekend can be found here.
