University to Close on Wednesday

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Due to extreme cold, Illinois Wesleyan University will close Tuesday evening, Jan. 29, effective 10 p.m. through Thursday morning, Jan. 31. Classes will begin Thursday at 9:25 a.m.
The University will be closed for all activity, other than essential functions, which include food service, residence halls, Campus Safety and select Physical Plant personnel. All other buildings and non-essential services will be closed, including The Ames Library, Shirk Center, Arnold Health Services/Counseling and Consultation Services, Hansen Student Center and all academic buildings including the theatre. All activities, including practices, rehearsals, classes, meetings, games and other events are cancelled on Wednesday.
In addition:
- The Office of Diversity and Inclusion and The Ames Library have cancelled Tuesday night's film screening of The Hate U Give. The film has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 5 at 6 p.m. in Beckman Auditorium.
Students are urged to stay inside their living areas while the University is closed for their safety. All buildings on campus will be closed except residence halls and the Memorial Center. Food service will be available at the Commons and the Dugout.
Those who must go outside should wear appropriate clothing (hat, gloves, thick coat, scarf, boots) covering all skin to prevent frostbite.
