Students to Present Self-Composed Works in Concert
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan University students will present their original works in concert on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program will feature compositions by Mitchell Galgan ’19, an instrumental performance
major on the double bass, and music composition major Yuqian (Cherry) Zhang ’19.
Galgan’s solo composition for double-bass,“Solar Chips,” is separated into three movements
and explores fast-paced rhythms, odd meters and uneven phrasing, and slow, deep tones.
The composition displays “a face of the double-bass rarely seen,” Galgan said.
The concert is part of the School of Music’s New Music Series. For additional information, please contact the School of Music at (309) 556-3061.
