Instructional Technologist

The Instructional Technologist position provides support to faculty and staff for academic technology. They consult with faculty in the development of digital instructional materials and train faculty and staff in various technologies. This role provides highly individualized service and support for faculty instructional technology needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Reaches out to help faculty and other presenters with technical, multimedia and audiovisual presentation methods, techniques and equipment in order to enhance the quality of the presentation; advises users on technical options; assesses faculty requirements for instructional technology; promotes the use of classroom and online technology
  • Develops technology training materials and user documentation; trains faculty and staff in various instructional systems and tools, with a particular focus on supporting our campus learning management system (LMS), Canvas.
  • Works with a wide variety of web, multimedia and audio-visual technologies, networks and computer hardware and software, applying the appropriate solution to non-standard problems; work closely with Instructional Designer, the Committee for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETAL), IT Services to promote best practices in instructional technology use on campus; may coordinate special programs and projects in an Audio/Visual or Instructional Technology field, such as webcasting, videoconferencing, podcasting, video production, or teaching with technology
  • Investigates and promotes the use of promising novel/emerging technologies among the faculty; keep abreast of the latest developments in the field; work with Academic Affairs and IT Services to pilot and implement new technologies or processes

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for related fields of study in instructional technology or educational studies
  • Minimum of three years related experience
  • Knowledge of computer, audio, video, and networking technology. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 
  • Familiarity with pedagogic theory preferred.

Salary $52-$56k, based on experience
