Infrastructure Technician I

Maintain and administer University server and cloud assets, respond to user issues and incidents, and provide initial field support for telephone and network issues.  This is a full-time, on campus position. Responsibilities:

  • Manage University services; perform basic systems administration tasks, including installation of server Operating Systems, user management in campus Active Directory environment, and initial diagnostics on application and email issues; provide Tier 1 support to University applications, and escalate issues; provide IT Helpdesk and Client Services assistance with user account issues; perform basic troubleshooting of issues regarding telephone and network hardware
  • Respond to IT service tickets; act as Tier I support for University issues involving infrastructure, including telephone, network, and server issues; Perform basic diagnostics and remediations for infrastructure issues; gather and document information needed for Tier II issues before escalation to senior administrators
  • Ensure proper documentation of IT activities; all system updates are properly documented in University documents; that tickets are processed, documented, and closed in a timely manner; fulfill standard service requests within specified SLA targets; that all application and service documentation is complete and up to date

 

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred
  • Three years related experience; knowledge of networking principles, active directory structures, Cloud architecture, SSO principles, troubleshooting procedures and ITIL
  • Some evening and weekend hours required for scheduled maintenance.  This position may involve off hours calls regarding emergency situations.
  • Physical demands: Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting
