Director of Conference Services

The Director of Conference Services position provides strategic vision, institutional leadership and logistical coordination for revenue generating events including summer overnight conferences, corporate functions, and social events.  As a leader at a small liberal arts university, this position performs as a working manager.  This is a full-time, on campus position. Responsibilities:

  • Direct conference operations for meetings, events, weddings, guest housing and overnight campus/conferences;
  • Manage revenue and resources; including forecasting, cultivating and growing revenue resources; evaluate and set market-appropriate rates for meeting rooms, housing, linens, and technical services, with a focus on maximizing net revenue; and, executing billing and collecting payments from clients
  • Perform risk management; ensure risk mitigation in camps and conferences; perform as lead on risk management relative to protection of minors and corresponding policies and procedures; review and secure liability insurance per contractual agreement.
  • Perform supervision and relationship building; perform supervision of interns and 2 FT staff members; develop and maintain industry contacts
  • Perform strategic planning for the department

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or business required;
  • Priority will be given to Certified Meeting Planner or Certified Collegiate Conference and Events Professional
  • Minimum of 5 years’ related experience or in roles with transferable skills.

Posting range:  $48,000 - $51,000, commensurate with experience
