What is the Wilder House Capacity?
The Wilder House is open and operating at full capacity (6 bedrooms with 2 shared bathrooms).
Rates and Reservations
How Many Rooms are Available in Wilder Guest House?
Wilder House has six guest rooms, each with fresh linens provided and beds made by IWU custodial staff before your stay. For extended stays, linens can be changed upon request. There is a shared bathroom with a lock on each floor.
What is the Nightly Rate?
The rate for each room currently is $45 per night. The room rate does not change based on the number of guests occupying the room.
Are Reservations Required? How can they be made?
Reservations are required and can be made by filling out the reservation form on the Wilder website. Be sure to include the following details:
- Night(s) of Stay
- Room Preference
- Guest name(s), Cell number(s), and Email addresses
- Billing Information
- Dept / person being billed (if applicable)
- Email (if applicable)
What is the Cancellation Policy with Regard to Reservations?
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance, or the first night’s stay will be charged. If a guest does not show up or cancels within 48 hours, the first night’s stay will also be charged.

Checks or cash can also be dropped off at the Conference Services office in the Memorial Center (Room 167A), Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Credit card payments are available upon request and may include additional fees—please contact the office for more details.
IWU departments may arrange direct billing by providing an account code when making the reservation.

Check In and Check Out
When may Guests Check In?
Check-in begins at 3:00 pm. Guests will receive an access code via email to a key box located on the porch, which contains the room key and exterior key. Please ensure the security of the house by locking doors and securing all access points.
By When must Guests Check Out?
Check-out is by 10:00 am. Custodial staff will begin preparing rooms for the next guest at that time. If an extended check-out is needed, please arrange it via email at conferences@iwu.edu. An additional night may be charged for late check-out.
Keys must be left in the designated area in the room upon departure. Failure to return the keys at check-out will incur an additional night’s charge. If the keys are not returned within 72 hours or are lost, a $150 replacement fee will be charged.
Internet and Telephone
Is there Wireless in Wilder Guest House?
Yes, wireless internet is available. Instructions for connecting will be provided upon booking, and an email address is required.
Are there Phones Available in Guest Rooms?
Rooms do not have phones. Guests can use their personal cell phones or a shared phone located in the kitchen. To make a local call, dial 7 followed by the phone number.
Policies
Are there guest house policies of which to be aware?
Guests are expected to comply with IWU's policies, which prohibit:
- Alcohol consumption by minors
- Illegal drugs
- Weapons
- Pets (except service animals)
Damage or loss of items will result in restitution, either from the guest or their host institution. Guests who cause disruption or damage may be barred from future stays.
Is the Wilder House open during University breaks?
Yes, Wilder House remains open during University breaks (Thanksgiving Wednesday-Sunday, Winter Break from approximately December 22 to January 2). However, stays are limited to relatives of students with permission to stay in their residence hall or long-term guests of faculty and staff during these periods.
