Joining a Fraternity/Sorority

Started in 1866, fraternities and sororities at Illinois Wesleyan University are mission-driven and values-based organizations. This is a community that fosters academic excellence, philanthropic dedication, leadership skills, ethical behavior, and lifelong relationships. For this reason, fraternity and sorority members at IWU have higher GPAs, take leadership in the university community, and make a significant impact in the IWU and Bloomington communities.

Being a fraternity or sorority member means embracing IWU Fraternity and Sorority Life's pillars: fellowship, leadership, scholarship, service and philanthropy. When you join a fraternity or sorority, you will have an opportunity to make an impact on this campus and let your curiosity break through.

There are ten (10) recognized fraternities and sororities at Illinois Wesleyan University.  We are home to four (4) fraternities and four (4) sororities governed by either the Interfraternity Council (IFC) or the Panhellenic Council (CPH). We also have two (2) organizations, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alphia Iota, that do not belong to a council, but have a special interest in music.

Express Your Interest

  • Attend the RSO Fair on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. on the Quad.
  • Attend Fraternity & Sorority Movie Night on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on the Softball Field (Inspiration Field).
  • Complete the Grade & Conduct Record Relase Form .

  • During Rising Titan and Turning Titan, meet current members serving as Titan Orientation Leaders (TOLs) and ask questions to the Office of Student Involvement staff.
  • Ask current members about their fraternity or sorority experience.
  • Review the fraternity or sorority recruitment schedule and understanding the time commitment for going through the process.
