Titan Community Members in the Spotlight for Black History Month

Throughout the month of February, IWU is sharing weekly social media spotlights on Black students, faculty, staff and alumni in honor of Black History Month. The latest post features Leah Merrifield '78, a member of the IWU Board of Trustees.

Titan Athletics

The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team claimed the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season Championship after defeating North Central College 94-77 on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Shirk Center. This is the 10th regular season championship in program history.

 

Both the women's and men's teams will host the CCIW tournaments this week at the Shirk Center.

Opera performer Jack Waddell '63 spoke on a panel at a Black History Month event at the McLean County Museum of History titled, "A Historical Account of African American Musicians and Safe Spaces in Bloomington."

The latest production by the IWU School of Theatre Arts, "The Wolves," serves as a coming-of-age story about a group of high school girls who share life experiences at weekly soccer practice. Directed by Adjunct Instructor Chris Connelly, the show runs Feb. 21-25 in McPherson Hall.

Director of the School of Business and Economics Bryan McCannon '98 recently gave a research seminar in the Economics of LGBTQ+ Virtual Seminar Series hosted by the American Economic Association. His research explores gender identity and access to higher education.
