New Grant to Increase Global Engagement on Campus

A new grant from the U.S. Department of Education will allow Illinois Wesleyan students to experience more study abroad opportunities, while enhancing existing programs related to international and global studies, world languages and preprofessional programs.

Professor of Theatre Arts Curtis Trout explained the scene design behind the School of Theatre Arts recent musical production of Carrie. Nancy Steele Brokaw '71 also reviewed the production as a "well-crafted Halloween tale."

Assistant Professor of Theatre Michelle Cowin Gibbs was recently a guest on the Cohort Sistas podcast, a program that celebrates the experience and expertise of Black women and non-binary doctoral degree holders.

 

Prianka Sharma '07 received the Environment, Energy, and Resources Section Outstanding Committee Award from the American Bar Association for work on the 2022-23 Endangered Species Committee.

 

Lincoln Biederbeck '81 was named vice president of business development for USSI Global.

Announcements

The IWU Student Nurses Association is hosting a canned food drive for The Salvation Army through a Haunted Stevenson event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Stevenson Hall. Cost for entry is one canned good item.

With Deepest Sympathy

Professor Emeritus of History Paul Bushnell passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Bloomington. He taught at Illinois Wesleyan from 1966 until his retirement in 2013. While at IWU, Paul began teaching one of the first African American history courses in the country. He was also a past member of the Bloomington-Normal Black History Project and a longtime advocate for diversity issues on campus. Funeral arrangements are pending.
