Introduction
To the Illinois Wesleyan Community and Friends:
This is a milestone moment in the life of Illinois Wesleyan. I am pleased to present the results of our strategic planning process on this Website. The Board of Trustees, at its February 2006 meeting, approved the plan that will guide us for the next five years.
In developing the plan, we focused our energies on issues that are inextricably tied to achievement of our highest aspirations and that required concerted action. Campus work groups and committees directed their attention toward goals and strategies that are critical to the future of Illinois Wesleyan and that may not be addressed without intentional action.
As you review the following pages, please pay particular attention to the Mission and Vision Statements that precede the specific goals and strategies. These two statements guided the selection of the goals and strategies and provide the foundation for the entire plan.
Our next steps will be to develop the best methods to implement the goals and strategies. I will begin by assigning responsibility for specific plan elements to appropriate individuals, administrative offices, standing committees/councils, or ad hoc groups. I will also communicate and consult regularly with the campus community as this next phase unfolds. In the meantime, I welcome your comments via e-mail to me at president@iwu.edu.
This has been a collaborative effort involving the entire University community, and I offer my sincere thanks to the many people who contributed. I am eager to begin the work that will, over the next several years, realize our vision for this remarkable institution.
