2017 IWU Spain Director

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Joanne Diaz, Associate Professor of English, will direct the 2017 IWU Spain Program in Barcelona. 

Dr. Diaz is a scholar of Renaissance literature and an award-winning poet. Her collection My Favorite Tyrants won the 2013 Brittingham Prize in Poetry, and her most recent book, The Little Magazine in Contemporary America (co-edited with Ian Morris), was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2015. 

A former study abroad student herself, Prof. Diaz has lived in Oxford, England, and Manila, Philippines. She is also familiar with Barcelona, having completed an artist residency there in 2010.

In Barcelona, Prof. Diaz will teach "Writing in Spain," an Arts general education course.
