Colleen Herald holds a Doctorate in Teaching and Learning and a Master of Science in Reading from Illinois State University (Bloomington, IL). After earning her initial degree in Music Education from DePaul University (Chicago, IL), Colleen worked as a music teacher and elementary education teacher in K-12 schools in Chicago and Bloomington, IL.

Prior to coming to Illinois Wesleyan University, Colleen taught Reading Method courses to teacher candidates at Illinois State University and scheduled clinical and student teaching placements. 

In her current role as Teacher Licensure Officer at Illinois Wesleyan University, Colleen works to ensure that teacher candidates enrolled in the University’s state-approved programs meet all requirements for an Illinois Professional Educator License. Additionally, Colleen acts as liason to the Illinois State Board of Education and is responsible for mandated State and Federal reporting requirements.

Committed to giving back to the community, Colleen is a former volunteer and board member at the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington/Normal. She lives with her family in Normal, IL.
